- Abstract
Objective Cinnamomum migao H.W.Li(Lauraceae)was used by the people of Miao minority for the treatment of stomach convulsion, vomiting, diarrhoea, dermatophytosis, bellyache, asthma and gastralgia, etc. Methods Essential oil was extracted from this plant by supercritical CO2 fluid extraction(SFE)and steam distillation(SD). The yield of essential oil obtained by SD and SFE was 15.874% and 3.632%,respectively. Results Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry identified 58 compounds in the essential oil,and the major compositions: eucalyptol, a-terpineol, borneol, copaene and camphor. In the comparison, 49 compounds were identified in the essential oil extracted by supercritical CO2, and the major components were copaene,N-ecanoic acid, eucalyptol, spathulenol, β-panasinsene. Conclusion Excellent pharmaceutical activity of the essential oil of C.migao was deteded by our experiments. Investigation found that the essential oil was effective in treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
