- Abstract
The article analyzes the manifestations of the roles of the social worker as a leader of a training group. In this respect the focus is on the roles related to the communication in the group. The training group is a commonly used form of support in the social work. The effect of providing support in social work depends on the nature of the connections and relationships between the members of the group on one hand, and between the group and the facilitator on the other. The training group is considered to be the social environment where to support people who need social skills development and behavioral change. The peculiarities of the training group are interpreted in a humanistic perspective: in the context of the theoretical concepts by K. Lewin, A. Maslow, J. Moreno and K. Rogers. As a result of the theoretical analysis, the thesis is maintained that the role behavior of the facilitator is essential for the course of the intra-group interaction. The variety of professional roles played by the social worker in his work with training groups requires the presence of a specific communicative competence so as to regulate the communication processes in the group.
