- Abstract
The article focuses on the Indian Ocean region's maritime trade networks between the 14th and 15th centuries and how they influenced cross-cultural competition along the coastline of Vietnam. The author discusses the politics of ancient Vietnamese cities Champa and Dai Viet, examines the trade routes in the Indian Ocean region, and explores how the Chinese Ming dynasty sought to regulate trade in the area.
