- Title
Partitioning Herbivory and Its Effects on Coral Reef Algal Communities.
- Authors
Carpenter, Robert C.
- Abstract
The article presents a study conducted by the author on classification of coral reef herbivores on the basis of their frequency and intensity of disturbance to the algal community. Topics discussed include grazing intensity for diadema antillarum, higher biomass in algal communities due to grazing by herbivores fishes as compared to microherbivores and interactions between herbivores and coral reef plant similar to terrestrial grassland-herbivore systems.
