- Abstract
A detail study on food and feeding habits of Eupleurogrammus muticus has been conducted. The species was found to be cannibalistic carnivorous as evident from gut content analysis. Acetes spp. is the favorite food with maximum index of preponderance (IP) of 59.9 of E. muticus. High values of gastro-somatic index (GSI) were seen during January, October and December. Fishes with higher percentage of 1/4 and empty stomach in bigger size groups may be possible on account of rapid rate of digestion due to its rapid swimming movements.
