- Title
THE IMPORTANGE OF THE VARIANCE AROUND THE MEAN EFFECT SIZE OF ECOLOGICAL PROCESSES: REPLY.
- Authors
Benedetti-Cecchi, Lisandro
- Abstract
The article presents information on author's reply to ecologist Brian D. Inouye's comment on the importance of the variance around the mean effect size of ecological processes. He reveals that since experiments in ecology have focused mainly on the mean intensity of predictor variables, emphasis on variance provides a new and exciting slant to explore linkages between pattern and process. Progress in this direction relies on the identification of appropriate experimental and analytical techniques to deal with effects of variance and intensity of processes simultaneously.
