- Title
RADON DERMATITIS: A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE.
- Authors
Higgins, Elisabeth; Pembroke, Andrew; Du Vivier, Anthony
- Abstract
The article focuses on the significance of radon for its therapeutic use in the field of dermatology. Radon has been receiving increasing attention in recent years, as evidence has emerged linking environmental exposure to the possible induction of malignancy. Cutaneous problems are well recognized in patients exposed to ionizing radiation, and late malignant change has frequently been observed. Radiation damage is progressive even without subsequent exposure to ionizing radiation, however, such exposed skin will suffer more rapid damage following further exposure to other ionizing radiations or to UV light.
