- Abstract
This article features an interview with Bill Hagaman, the former CEO of Withum, a global accounting firm. Hagaman shares his personal journey into public accounting and discusses his vision for the firm, which involved transitioning to an industry-focused approach. Despite initial resistance, this shift proved beneficial during the COVID-19 pandemic. Withum has experienced growth through strategic mergers that align with their culture and industry goals, as well as geographic expansion. They attribute their rise in rankings to their planned growth strategy, marketing efforts, and social media presence. Withum expects future growth to come from their talented staff and industry focus. They have also increased their involvement with HLB, a global network, to better serve international clients. Hagaman advises young people entering the accounting profession to have ambition, grit, and develop personal relationships.
