- Title
Commentary: Environmental determinants of dimorphic systemic mycoses—the macro and the micro.
- Authors
Baumgardner, Dennis J.
- Abstract
The article presents the author's comment on a study by Barrozo and colleagues regarding the effect of climatic features on the incidence of paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM). The author states that the epidemiology of PCM, a serious systemic mycosis of Latin America, is hard to study because of the long and unpredictable latency period of the common form of the disease. According to the author, Barrozo's study may contribute to solving the problems related to Paracoccidioides brasiliensis fungus.
