- Abstract
The article presents information on ecosystem management for pest control. It is noted that modern industrialized agriculture has resulted from genetic and mechanistic engineering, whose goal has been to design artificial ecosystems that maximize material throughput. The ecosystem management for pest control involves determining optimum input levels such as optimum fertilization levels, optimum pesticide application rates, and optimum parameter for a given model. It is informed that management of the ecosystem assumes the structure of the system to be fixed, while certain key parameters like time synchronies between the parasite and the pest, planting dates, fecundities, mortality rates, and fertilization levels are managed to obtain the desired system performance.
