- Abstract
The article discusses relations between India and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It examines relations between Soviet leaders, including Nikita Khrushchev, Leonid Brezhnev, and Mikhail Gorbachev, and Indian leaders, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi. The author considers India's policy of nonalignment, the Soviet Union and India's relations with China and the U.S., and the impact of the end of the Cold War on India. India's opposition to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) is also considered.
