THE SUCCESS DELUSION: WHY IT CAN BE SO HARD FOR SUCCESSFUL LEADERS TO CHANGE.
- Authors
Goldsmith, Marshall
- Abstract
The article offers insight on success delusion and why successful leaders are finding it hard to change their behavior toward success. It notes that the more people become successful, the more positive reinforcement they get and are likely to experience success delusion. According to the author, people are always wanting to hear what they want to hear and believe all the good things that world is telling on them. He infers that as belief in oneself helps one to become successful, it can also make it very hard for one to change. It tells that people are deluding themselves with their achievements, status, and contributions to society, where people often underestimate their contribution to a project, have an elevated opinion, and then exaggerate the project's impact.
