- Abstract
The article focuses on depolarization in the brainstem mediates sudden cardiorespiratory arrest in mouse SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy) models and lethal cardiorespiratory failure. It mentions spreading depolarization (SD) and self-propagating depolarizing wave that silences neuronal networks. It also mentions potassium chloride microinjection also elicited electroencephalographic suppression and asystole.
