- Abstract
The article focuses on how Denis Diderot and D'Alembert's Encyclopédie (1751–65) serves as a critical resource for understanding the complex interplay between colonialism, slavery, and ecological change in the eighteenth century. It analyzes how the Encyclopédie navigates these themes through cross-referencing and intertextuality, revealing the ideological underpinnings of colonial expansion and its environmental impacts.
