- Abstract
In this work a summary of the results obtained by evaluating a didactic strategy to teach the concept of energy in an integrated way in the subjects Physics I and Physics II is presented. These subjects correspond to the degree in Geology and Chemistry at the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the National University of La Pampa. The central idea was to present this concept from a unifying perspective; this helped the students to understand the concept deeply and allowed them to apply this concept to other subjects of their course of study. The instruments utilized to collect information and then to evaluate the results were: pre and posttest, individual semi-organized interviews, written productions from the students (practice papers including problems and laboratory reports) mid-term and final exams, non-interactive participation in class. The attained results show that the students have been able to apply the widespread theorem of the energy conservation in mechanics as well as in electromagnetism. Furthermore, the concepts learned by the students were useful to be applied in new situations.
