The article presents the discussion on African American female journalist and the founder of the nation's anti-lynching movement in the late 19th century. Topics include alienated many colleagues of color and fellow travelers in the civil rights and women's rights movements sharing the objectives; and recognition and insensitivity to the concerns of potential allies keeping from forging necessary coalitions.
