The article focuses on existing treatment options for people with opioid use disorder, as well as benefits and harms of long-acting naltrexone implants. Topics discussed include examines precommitment strategies in the context of health decision; ethical arguments for and against the use of such strategies in addiction as well as general mental health treatment; and recommendations for researchers, clinicians, policy officials, and opioid users making decisions about naltrexone implants.
