- Abstract
The paper deals with aspects related to the replacing of voltage measurement transformers from a power group. The old transformers had lower precision class and were damaged one by one, their lifespans being smaller than that specified in the datasheet. Possible explanations for this aspect were: transient regimes due to connections and disconnections to the power grid and the propagation of the distorting regime introduced by the static excitation system with a rectifier bridge made of thyristors. The voltages waveforms, before and after the changing of the transformers, were recorded with data acquisition systems and processed by means of a Fast Fourier Transform based original software. Based on the obtained results, it was concluded that the old transformers were providing inaccurate information due to the aging of the insulation and lower precision class. Also conditions were accomplished for the occurrence of resonance phenomena, with harmonics introduced by the static excitation system.
