- Title
The Spanish of Equatorial Guinea: research on la hispanidad's best-kept secret.
- Authors
Lipski, John
- Abstract
The article discusses the linguistic curiosities of Equatorial Guinea, the only sub-Saharan African Spanish-speaking country. The nation contains many ethnic groups with their own languages, the principal one being the Fang. The Spanish educational system, in addition to missionaries, has played a significant role in preserving the Spanish language as the primary form of communication. While Spanish is widespread, official data is lacking in calculating the exact number of those who are fluent speakers.
