- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the plasma apelin, adiponectin and high sensitivity C reactive protein levels in obese and nonobese children. The study also evaluated the effect of pubertal state on the plasma levels of adipokines and their association with the parameters of metabolic regulation, insulin sensitivity and inflammation. Findings showed that plasma apelin levels are lower in child obesity and that pubertal state is an important determinant of plasma apelin levels.
