- Abstract
The article discusses the results of a study that determines the free fatty acid (FFA) content in waste deodorizer distillates and crude oils using an analytical method of single bounce-attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The method avoided the use of organic solvents or costly standards. It notes the use of the method as an alternate to the American Oil Chemists' Society's (AOCS) titrimetric method for the quantitative determination of FFAs.
