- Title
Damages Under Wrongful Death Statutes: The Relevancy of a Survivor's Nation of Residency.
- Authors
Bowles, Tyler J.
- Abstract
The article examines whether the foreign standard of living relative to the U.S. is relevant information to a jury as it contemplates a fair and just amount to award survivors for loss of companionship, comfort, and society under the Lord Campbell type wrongful death statutes. Economic theory suggests that the purchasing power parity method should be used in calculating foreign standards of living expressed in U.S. dollars.
