- Abstract
The article presents the authors' views on self-management strategies for the management of persistent musculoskeletal disorders, and the role of a physical therapist in the same. Topics discussed include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and neck and back problems related to spine which are some common musculoskeletal disorders; physical therapy as an intervention to improve musculoskeletal health; and physical therapists' use of cognitive behavioral therapy in self-management.
