- Abstract
The article focuses on the geobiology and sedimentary environments of the hypersaline Great Salt Lake (GSL) in Utah. It mentions that the GSL is the defining hydrological feature of the Great Basin which is the largest desert in North America. It states that microbiological census on the lake confirms that microbial communities are found on mats, crusts, and tufas. It adds that GSL is a major avian habitat which also provides food of migrating birds.
