- Abstract
This document is a reply to a comment made by Dr. Lampridis regarding a recent publication on video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for lung cancer patients with elevated Body Mass Index (BMI). The authors agree with Dr. Lampridis that there are cases where the thoracotomy approach is necessary due to disease-related difficulties, but they argue that patients with elevated BMI should not be excluded from VATS solely based on technical difficulties. The authors also discuss the benefits of minimally invasive surgery and the potential for reducing postoperative complications through early mobilization and pain management. They suggest further analysis of specific complications in targeted populations to develop more precise prevention strategies.
