- Abstract
An essay is presented that discusses a 15th-century letter from a Jewish scholar named Isaac ha-Kohen to Christian Hebraist Marco Lippomano. Topics include humanist interest in Arabic and Judeo-Arabic during the Italian Renaissance; early modern views regarding the similarities between Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic; and particular aspects of Hebrew and Arabic among Sicilian Jews like ha-Kohen.
