- Abstract
The article focuses on the history of the artistic and literary vanguard movement in Latin America, specifically in Chile, beginning in 1915. The author describes the influence of dadaism on the vanguard movement and references Latin American poets and authors such as Pablo Neruda, Jorge Luis Borges and Vicente Huidobro. The innovation and avant-garde leadership of Chilean writer Pedro Prado is discussed with particular respect to his first novel, "Flores de cardo." Each work and author discussed is contextualized specifically within the Chilean and Latin American literary vanguard movement.
