- Abstract
The article discusses a case of a 33-year-old Nigerian woman who is positive for anti-U antibodies. It is said that anti-U is a rare red cell alloantibody that is exclusively found in Africans and can cause hemolytic transfusion reaction and hemolytic disease in the fetus and newborn. In addition, hemolytic disease occur below the threshold level of 1:32, while hemolysis could occur at 1:512. Elective delivery by cesarean section was performed on the patient due to lack of anti-U blood supply.
