Advances in fertility preservation for female cancer survivors.
- Authors
Brännström, Mats; Milenkovic, Milan
- Abstract
The article comments on a paper by M. Xu and colleagues, which discusses a method using tissue engineering principles for the culture of immature ovarian follicles followed by fertilization of oocytes in vitro. According to the authors, the method is a great step forward toward new technology for fertility preservation in female cancer patients. They add the method should preferably be refined in animal models, including a non-human primate species, before subsequent application in humans.
