- Abstract
The author analyzes a study on how primary care physicians (PCPs) integrate price information into clinical decision making. Topics discussed include the semi-structured interviews conducted on PCPs, the interest of PCPs in having patient-specific out-of-pocket price information than the price paid by insurers, and the view of most PCPs on the importance of price transparency in healthcare, as well as engagement of patients and practices, society and healthcare payers.
