Determines the mechanism by which extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) activity enhances transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β)-induced collagen expression in human mesangial cells and evaluates the effects of ERK inhibition on Smad signaling. Effect of ERK inhibition on Smad signaling; Evaluation on TGF-&beta-; stimulation of differential R-Smad phosphorylation; Conclusions.
