Title
JAMES STIRLING: Science Centre, Berlin.
Abstract
The article describes the architectural design made by James Stirling for the Science Center in Berlin, Germany. The scheme necessitated the retention of the large, ornate, 19th-century, Beaux-Arts-style building which overlooks the Landwehrkanal. The new buildings were designed to cluster around a central garden but they are relatively independent. They are linked to the existing building via arcades and loggias.
