Fetal programming and adult obesity.
- Authors
Ross, Michael G.; Desai, Mina
- Abstract
The article discusses fetal programming and adult obesity. It mentions that studies have shown that in utero conditions that lead to low birth weight contribute to increased risks of adult obesity, therefore, helping patients avoid extremes of nutrition in pregnancy, can help the long-term health of their offspring. Prenatal care and fetal programming which focus on reducing maternal weight and balanced maternal nutrition during pregnancy will help in reducing adult obesity.
