- Abstract
This article should be framed within the context of studies on the promotion policies of Spanish fashion, boosted after the Second World War. In the 1960s, the Franco government tried to reorganize, from an institutional perspective, the heterogeneous range of entities called upon to coordinate a crucial sector for the image of the regimen abroad: haute couture. Within the Ministry of Information and Tourism, the Office for the promotion of fashion emerged in 1965, and later the Inter-ministerial Committee for the promotion of fashion in 1967. Despite the fact that both organizations played a relevant role in the internationalization process of the main firms of Barcelona and Madrid, their critical fortune has been practically nil in contemporary historiography. Based on unpublished material, this research aims to provide a first approximation to the organizational and operational structure of both entities.
