- Abstract
This paper presents a significant study of the influence of the electromagnetic field genertaed by a coplanar waveguide circular antenna loaded with a 3 × 3 array of the I-shaped metamaterial unit cell on people. The assessment is done through the simulation of the specific absorption rate (SAR), which quantifies the absorption rate of electromagnetic energy by the human body tissue. The standard limits range between 1 and 10 g of thigh tissues. After the implementation of the I-shaped metamaterial unit cell array, the antenna SAR achieves 0.111 and 0.0486 W/kg for 1 and 10 g of thigh tissues, respectively.
