- Abstract
The article focuses on the contributions of Jewish citizens to the life of Marshall, Texas. It relates that as of 1982, the population of the city of Marshall only had a total of 16 Jewish citizens. Some of the prominent Jewish residents of Marshall include the brothers Daniel and Myer Doppelmayer who operated a candy shop before the Civil War, and M. Israelson who organized the Marshall Ice and Electric Company in 1875. It relates the participation of Jewish men in the service clubs, chamber of commerce and school boards in the city.
