- Abstract
The cellular dislocation structure of solid alloys of the Cu-Al and Cu-Mn systems is studied during their deformation. The relative roles of different mechanisms in the development of strain resistance are determined. It is found out that strengthening of hard alloys of the Cu-Al and Cu-Mn systems bears a multivariable character. It is shown that as the deformation increases, the largest contributions into strengthening come from the elastic stress fields and the cell and grain boundaries. The contribution from misorientations at the cell boundaries increases with the density of misoriented cell boundaries and the misorientation angle. The misoriented boundaries make a significant contribution into the deformation resistance. The effectiveness of the cell walls as obstacles to slip increases due to the through-boundary misorientations and the increasing deformation. The formation of misorientations enhances the effect of a barrier deceleration in the cellular dislocation substructure.
