Abstract
The article reports on the responses of the local officials concerning the increasing volume of the residents in Mexico City, Mexico. It discusses the new Environmental Standard for the Federal District which cracks down on loud factories, bars, markets and other places of business in the capital. According to Sergio Beristain, president of the Mexican Institute of Acoustics, the new ordinance tightens a noise law for the area that was largely ignored.
