- Abstract
The article reports that payroll employment in nonfarm industries in the U.S. increased 1.4 percent or 1.8 million in 2011. It informs the Current Employment Statistics (CES) survey found that in the private sector most major industries experienced job growth in 2011. The health care industry employment rose by 2.1 percent on 297,000 and the employment in leisure and hospitality industry grew by 318,000, or 2.4 percent. Employment in the durable goods industry increased by 242,000. It reports that employment in the local government declined by 496,000 jobs and in state government by 159,000 job.
