- Abstract
The family is the first socialization of the child and the child spends most of his time outside his/her school with his family. In this respect, the family plays an important role in the education of the child and the importance of school-family cooperation is becoming more and more important. Therefore, parents are expected to be in coordination with teachers and school management in this process. However, it is necessary to know what parents expect from education and school. With the effect of different reasons, expectations of every parent from education may be different and these expectations should be known and met by other stakeholders. The aim of this study is to develop a scale that will determine the basic expectations of the parents of the students at different educational levels from education, school, teacher and school management. The study was conducted with a total of 300 parents randomly selected in preschool, primary, secondary and high school levels in Edirne during the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019. "Parent Expectation Scale" prepared by the researchers was used as data collection tool. The scale consists of 40 questions with 4 grades. Varimax rotated exploratory factor analysis was used to determine sub-dimensions as scale development statistics. For each sub-dimension, the item-total correlation coefficient and the item-remainder total correlation coefficient were calculated and the internal consistency was determined. In the same way, t-test was applied between the upper and lower quartiles to determine the discriminating power of the substances. For scale and sub-dimensions, cronbach and roll coefficients were calculated and reliability was determined. After the statistical procedures, it was determined that the scale was valid, reliable and usable.
