- Abstract
In the Ottoman Empire, tradesmen were known as the continuation of the ahi community and were an important part of the commercial life. These unions were unions based on the division of labor in a hierarchical manner. While the Ottoman Empire was aiming to serve the welfare of the people, it implemented a narh system which was able to keep the economy under control and took some measures to continue this system. At the beginning of the Ottoman state was given much importance to the system of narh. However, it seems that this system has disappeared in later times. In this article I'm going to focus on the two main and deep points of attention.
