- Abstract
The tourism sector consists of accommodation operations, food and beverage operations, recreational operations, travel enterprises, which produce and market touristic goods and services in large scale for profit and ultimately create added value. The development of the tourism sector also means the development of other sectors. Other businesses directly or indirectly interested in the tourism sector and the sector itself can support their economic development with the income they earn from tourism. Tourism has positive economic effects such as effect on balance of payments, income effect, domestic import effect, labor multiplier effect, regulating effect of export and income distribution, employment increase and creation of new job opportunities, economic development and foreign exchange income generation, development of small scale enterprises, improvement of life standard and quality. Tourism provides foreign currency entry. Tourism has an effect on the foreign exchange income of that country and affects the balance of payments positively. However, the tourism sector is also under the influence of external factors. External factors such as economic and political crises, epidemic threats to life and property safety of tourists, natural disasters, war or terrorist attacks have a negative effect on tourism continuity. Economic growth is defined as improvements in production factors (labor, natural resources, capital, entrepreneurs) and continuous increases in the production of goods and services. Economic growth is an increase in real Gross National Product (GNP). Gross national product is the market value of goods and services produced by an individual country within and outside the country at a given time. The change in GDP is one of macroeconomic indicators that most clearly show growth or contraction in the country's economy. In this study, the effect of the tourism sector on economic growth was tried to be explained.
