- Abstract
The article discusses the three-decade fight of the Mexican teachers' movement for union democracy and public education protection. Topics discussed include education as a social right in Mexico, the role of teachers as social leaders which affects the neoliberal system, and the phases of the teachers' movement. Also mentioned are attacks against organized teachers and the participation of the teachers' movement in international organizations.
