- Abstract
The article presents information on legal developments in marketing relative to the regulation of advertising and promotional methods. The article cites FTC v. Security Rare Coin & Bullion Corp., Central Coin Exchange, Inc., William J. Ulrich, and Angela Corp. where the appellate court confirmed that consumer redress is authorized under Sections 19 and 13(b) of the Federal Trade Commission Act. Several other enforcement issues initiated by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are noted, including the largest telemarketing fraud settlement with the U.S. Oil and Gas Co., et al. and that remedial affirmative disclosures regarding food content will be made by the Campbell Soup Company for deceptive and unsubstantiated health claims.
