- Title
Philips Research Laboratories, The Netherlands FEI Company, USA.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the visualization of nanoparticles as specialized by FEI Company in Philips Research Laboratories in the U.S. They work by sending a high-energy beam of electrons to illuminate the surface of the object and gathering the electromagnetic radiation that is bounced back. Several images that portrays a series of interestingly botched experiments are presented including a donut-shaped object, an excessive number of one substance generates tagliatelle-like crystallites, and a metal thin film deposition process, in which the internal stress has made the film curve upward to outline a metal wave. Furthermore, one image of a successful process show the Bosch process in which successive etching of the silicon resulted in a skyline pattern.
