- Title
Saberes terapêuticos nas Minas coloniais: diálogos entre a medicina oficial e as curas não licenciadas (séc. XVIII).
- Authors
Lima Nogueira, André Luís
- Abstract
This article deals with unlawful healing practices in Minas Gerais State in the 18th century generated mainly by black and half-cast agents. Besides analyzing the morphological aspects of these therapies and also their beliefs, it interests me to establish a dialogue with the actions of representatives of scholarly medicine. For this purpose, I sought a comparative reading between the allegations against unlicensed healers referred to the Church ("devassas eclesiásticas" and writings in the books of the Promoter of the Inquisition) and also part of the medical agreements printed in the course of this study period.
