- Title
Community nurses subsidise NHS through soaring fuel prices, says RCN.
- Abstract
The article reports on the assertion of Peter Carter, general secretary of Royal College of Nursing, that community nurses must be compensated for the increasing price of petroleum, which coerces them to subsidise the National Health Service (NHS) in Great Britain. Carter contends that the cost of petroleum increased by 32 percent since mileage allowances were last increased in 2000. Increasing fuel price prompts unions to demand interim support for NHS staff depending on their cars for work.
