- Abstract
The article offers information on the challenges and triumphs of Black women educators in segregated Louisiana, U.S. before the 1960s. Topics discusses include the historical womanist tradition; the double jeopardy faced by Black women; the familiar tropes of dominance; explores the real-world experiences of a Black woman faculty-administrator in higher education; and emphasizing the importance of breaking silences and providing a counter-narrative to the traditional discourse.
