Melanoma/Oncology.
- Abstract
This article provides information on various topics related to dermatology and skin cancer. It discusses the establishment of a regional high-risk melanoma diagnostic service in Northern Queensland, Australia, and presents a case study of a patient with rare genetic mutations associated with melanoma risk. The article also explores immunohistochemical manifestations in Merkel cell carcinoma, clinical features of sebaceous adenocarcinoma, recurrence rates of melanoma in situ, cutaneous adverse effects of immunotherapy, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on melanoma diagnosis and management. Additionally, the article discusses the use of ultrasound surveillance in melanoma management and highlights its effectiveness in detecting locoregional metastasis. Other studies mentioned in the article focus on pediatric genetic skin cancer services, anti-pruritic therapies, multiple melanoma diagnoses, keratinocyte cancers in renal transplant recipients, and the diagnosis of subungual melanoma. The article emphasizes the importance of early detection, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate management in treating various skin cancers, including angiosarcoma. It highlights the need for further investigations and a high index of suspicion when encountering lesions that may indicate angiosarcoma. The article also emphasizes the poor prognosis associated with angiosarcoma and the importance of prompt intervention.
