- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the perceptions of minority teacher candidates about the process of becoming teachers. The authors conducted interviews with and observations of three minority teacher candidates to gain insights into their motivation to become teachers. The study was conducted in an undergraduate elementary education program at a predominantly White university located in the southern U.S. It was found that such teachers experienced some hesitation about the teaching profession.
